Rent Musical

So, I went to go see Rent and I wondered how closely the Korean cast were going to follow the original production. Angel was actually played by a guy which shocked me and there were a couple girl-on-girl kisses. But, they did seem to put a greater emphasis on the fact that this musical is from the US and that it takes place in New York. The same went for Hedwig. It was made very clear that these musicals were not set in Korea or made in Korea.
That being said, they really did stay true to the original. I was pleasantly surprised and the production was really good. I went on the last night when Brian Joo was performing the role of Mark. He made it big in a R&B duo (Fly to the Sky) and is very well known in the music industry. They split and are now doing solo projects, but both of them are still loved and known. Gong Yoo, the actress who played Linh in Tears of Heaven, played Mimi. She's amazing. I love her.
After the musical was over, we were all able to get them to sign our program books. The guy who played Angel was the sweetest guy. He was so nice. Gong Yoo's English is amazing, so we talked for a bit. She's so lovely. Eden who played Collins was super nice, too. He spoke a little English, we spoke a little Korean. It was great~!
