DMZ Day 2

This is a look at Cheorwon. Since its so close to the DMZ, this area was completely devastated during the stalemate years of the Korean War. The original city of Cheorwon was leveled. The Cheorwon that stands today is known as New Cheorwon. There were a few 100,000 people who lived here at that time. It is largely an agricultural town covered with rice fields as far as you can see. In this video, you can also see barbed wire, surrounding the mine fields still around the DMZ. You can also see the side of some of the military outposts.

The second day was devoted mostly to bungee jumping. We were supposed to do it the day before, but it was canceled due to the rain. It was a 50 meter drop, so about 164 ft.

After bungee jumping (it took about 2 1/2 hours for everyone to jump), we headed back to the accommodation for lunch (buffet style bibimbap, yum~!). Then, we played outside, walked to a nearby convenience store for ice cream, and generally attracted a lot of attention from the locals.

Then we headed to the White Horse Korean War Memorial. Unfortunately, my camera died and my extra batteries were in my suitcase. FAIL. So, they're aren't as many pictures as I would like. ^^"" Maybe I'll steal some from Lucy.

 Then, we all got on the tour bus to head back to Seoul. This was the end of a wonderful trip in Cheorwon.
